Thank you for your support
From left – the Queensway postmaster, with area, regional and national managers, plus Conservative local election candidates Laila Dupuy, Philip Stephenson-Oliver and Cllr Margot Bright
We are very pleased to report that your support for our petition to save Queensway’s Post Office has worked! We came together as a community to stand up to the developers and demand that the post office is kept open. The developers have offered a new premise on the other side of the road, and have already provided detailed drawings that are the right fit for everything the postmaster needs.
Thanks to your support, The Post Office Ltd has also now designated Queensway as a Main Post Office – only one of 30 post offices in the country – which means it will offer high-street banking facilities as well as continue to provide its usual services. We are particularly pleased with this decision given our residents’ concerns about the loss of banks along the high street.
Your local Lancaster Gate Conservative Action Team – Laila Dupuy, Philip Stephenson-Oliver and Cllr Margot Bright – and retiring Cllr Susie Burbridge have worked tirelessly with the Post Office senior managers for over six months to secure the future of our local post office.
We have heard troubling reports that Westminster Labour have told residents not to sign the petition, which has led to undeserved negative pressure on the Queensway postmaster. We are concerned that they are using this as an election stunt; unlike us who have been fighting on this community campaign long before the election period.
We have spent the last six months building extensive relationships with the Post Office senior managers and local stakeholders that Labour have sought to break by telling people not to support the campaign to save the Post Office. Only we – Laila, Philip and Margot – can continue to negotiate the saving of Queensway’s Post Office on your behalf if we are elected on Thursday 5 May.
Having collectively lived in the area for over 50 years, we truly understand the needs of our Lancaster Gate community. We saw the threat to the Post Office and acted swiftly to save it. If elected on Thursday 5 May, we will lobby Mayor of London Sadiq Khan to allocate Safer Neighbourhood Funds to Westminster and Lancaster Gate. We will also continue our successful Dog Security Patrols that have already reduced crime and anti-social behaviour in the area.
Our petition has collected over 2,000 signatures to date. It will remain active online so please encourage friends, families and colleagues to sign it.
We – Laila, Philip and Margot – hope that we can count on your vote and can deliver on your behalf in Lancaster Gate. Pledge your support today by filling out our survey online. We also send a weekly e-newsletter about local issues. Sign up here.
Please don’t hesitate to contact us with a local issue or concern. We will do all that we can to help you and your neighbours.
